The Fishing Update

Fishing Content Update 0.2.0

The new fishing update for Lens Island is now live on Steam for PC and Mac! This update will be surfacing some big items into your gameplay including (of course) fishing, Steam cloud saving, a new status effect system, reworked caves, rebalanced enemies, new achievements, dropping backpack on death and so much more! See below as I dive into all the new details and additions in the Fishing Update.

What does Fishing Add?

Fishing within Len's Island grants you the ability to cast for, collect, and cook various fish species that can be found across different corners of the world. Enjoy the relaxing beaches around the Island or uncover glistening rock pools hidden in the cave. Once cooked in a fireplace, you can eat the fish and discover all the unique buffs that will aid you in combat, or, take a trip to Kevin the Fisherman's shack to sell your sea creatures for a profit. While you're sitting on the dock of the Fisherman's shack, watching the tide roll away, you might smell a brand new fishy weapon splashing into the game.

+ Ability to fish in the ocean, forest ponds, rivers and cave ponds.

+ Six new fish with cooked and uncooked variants.

+ New Fisherman's shack added on the island, where you can sell fish and buy items.

+ New Fishing Rod sold at the Fisherman's Shack.

+ New Fisherman Sword sold at the Fisherman's Shack.

+ Ability to cook fish in the fireplace.

+ New status effect system granting the player effects when eating specific fish and food.

+ Added two new fishing decorations.

+ Crab crustaceans spawn on beach areas, scuttle around, and look all cute and stuff.

Grab your rod and find a calm body of water to tackle the new fishing expansion within Len's Island.

Line up, and click to cast your line into a river, pond or the ocean and watch as the reaction-based mini-game flashes a series of critical hits to ensure you reel in your catch. We will continue to float new content into the game and expand upon fishing within Len's Island over development. This update is just one small way that we will be expanding the universe and gameplay of Len's Island.

What else is new?

We also cast our nets over a series of new improvements to increase your awareness and experience throughout gameplay. See the power of your critical hits during attacks with a new screen shake effect, which can be toggled off in the menu. As your health bar gets dangerously low, your screen effects draw attention to your sinking HP with a red hue around the screen, but never fear if you do die with all those cave resources, you can find them all in the same spot you died, in your dropped backpack - super nifty!

+ You now drop a backpack on death containing any extra resources since your last save.

+ Steam cloud support added.

+ Added a new small cave beside the starter shack.

+ Added new low HP screen effects.

+ Added a new hit screen shake effect with a toggle in the menu to disable it.

+ All recycled building objects now drop resources if they don't fit in your inventory.

+ Implemented auto-walk click when striking out of range trees, rocks, and other items for resources.

+ Many more additions and improvements are listed in the full changelog.
